Grilled Salmon with Fresh Dill Sauce

Dill is such a great herb for fresh summer dishes. In Texas, our dill burns up by the time we get to the heat of summer, so we are sure to use it a lot while it’s growing in the garden.

We wanted to use dill recently in lighter version of dill sauce to accompany grilled salmon. This sauce would also be good with grilled chicken or simply over veggies. On this night we created our own version in this latest kitchen adventure. And it could not have been easier or faster, all done in under 30 minutes!

The lemon added to the fresh dill adds a bright flavor to the sauce.

Using nonfat Greek yogurt and lite mayonnaise helps to lessen the fat and keeps the whole dish super healthy. Zest that lemon right into the mayo and yogurt.

Finely Chopped Dill

While the flavor of the dill is great, be sure to chop well to lessen any texture from the herb.

More lemon! Of course. Add salt and pepper to taste and stir all together. Set the sauce aside while grilling the salmon.

Super simple prep for the salmon. Garlic salt and fresh cracked pepper and a little olive oil drizzled on and it’s ready to grill!

So easy and so fresh.

Top the salmon pieces with the fresh dill sauce. If desired, grill a few lemon slices and finish with a sprig of dill.

On this night we served with simple white rice and a sautéed vegetable medley. So good!

Salmon with Fresh Dill Sauce

Grilled salmon, with a light fresh dill sauce. Perfect for a hot summer night
Prep time: 15 MinCook time: 12 MinTotal time: 27 Min

Ingredients

Dill Sauce
  • 1/3 cup Greek Nonfat yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lite-mayo
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Easy Grilled Salmon
  • 4 6oz. pieces of fresh salmon, skin off
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Drizzle of olive oil
  • Slices of lemon for garnish (if desired)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the yogurt and mayonnaise.  Zest the lemon directly into the yogurt and mayo.
  2. Add the chopped dill, incorporating into the mixture.
  3. Add the fresh lemon juice.  Finally, add salt and pepper to taste.  Stir and set aside until ready to use.  (Can be stored in an air tight container for several days)
  4. Add the garlic salt and pepper to the salmon.  Place in a grill basket and drizzle with olive oil.  (or drizzle with olive oil and place directly on the grill.  Be careful, as it may stick!)
  5. Grill for about 7 minutes and turn.  Grill about 5 minutes more. The fish is done when it is firm to the touch with the back of a metal spatula.
  6. Remove fish from the grill basket and place on a platter.  Top each piece with dill sauce and lemon slices.  Enjoy!
