Unveiling Paradise: A Surprise Stay at the Luxurious Las Ventanas al Paraíso

The Rosewood Las Ventanas al Pariso is absolutely a bucket-list stay. This gorgeous hotel sits about halfway between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, making it easy to visit either town. But, once you arrive at Las Ventanas, you most likely will never want to leave.

Our visit was a complete surprise to me for a recent birthday. And every minute of the surprise was incredible at Las Ventanas.

There is total attention to detail in the service at every moment. When you arrive, you’re greeted with a foaming margarita.

Some days there is a mariachi band playing to welcome guests.

Birthday Cupcake

On this day for me, the first birthday surprise is a special cupcake complete with a sparkler and the band played Happy Birthday!

The grounds are gorgeous at every turn. We were fortunate that we were upgraded to an ocean front room! Our hint: check the offers that come through your credit card companies. We not only were upgraded, but had breakfast each morning and a credit to spend at the resort. Since it was “low” season we also took advantage of buy 3 night and stay for 4 nights offer.

You’re escorted to your room by your butler. The butler service at the Rosewood properties is just one thing that sets them apart as a true luxury hotel.

We were greeted with a beautiful tequila set up gift to enjoy during our stay.

The rooms are beautiful, really connected to the place where they are built, using decor that feels native to the area.

There was a mini version of the giant cupcake waiting for me in the room.

This what you come to the beach for, these incredible views. Our room was on the second floor right on the ocean. It came complete with a tiny hot tub. Since it was August we did not use it, but during the winter this part of Mexico cools off so it would be great then!

Here was the bonus: your very own rooftop terrace. So gorgeous with nothing but ocean in front of you. During the winter months, the whales are right off the shoreline as they make their annual migration.

Looking at the beautiful corner room on the left. The staircase off the patio drops you right off at the pool.

There are so many things to do at this resort including a world class golf course, tennis, a spa and beautiful shops. Or, like us, you can just spend the days just enjoying the pools and beach.

After getting settled in it was time for our first dinner. We chose, Alebrije, right at the ocean. The sun was just starting to set.

We were greeted with a complimentary mescal service. It featured oranges and three types of salt to try while sipping. It is a great way to try a new kind of spirit for us.

The restaurant featured food from the Oaxaca region of Mexico. We were in Oaxaca earlier this year and loved every minute of it. (Find our Oaxaca post: HERE)

There are not nearly enough pictures but here is a sampling of some of the delicious food. The grilled shrimp on the left have a delicious blend of Oaxacan spices. On the right is the short rib, which was incredible!

The next birthday surprise was in the form of this cute little pinata. The pinata is actually made of chocolate with additional candies below.

When the flame goes out you’re given a little hammer to break (and then eat) the pinata. Look at the genuine smile on the waiter’s face!

Turndown service is the ultimate luxury and at Las Ventanas the service includes a cute little corn husk doll with an inspirational quote. There is a different doll and quote every night. Such a sweet touch!

The last surprise of the first day. Who wouldn’t want a bathtub filled with balloons? Good night!

Breakfast in paradise. We chose to have breakfast delivered each morning since it was included with our room package. Through “what’s app” you message your menu choices and time you’d like to have breakfast. The staff brings it up the outside stairs and sets it up. You open your curtains to find a gorgeous morning with a delicious breakfast waiting.
It feels like paradise.

There are miles of beautiful beaches in this area. Unfortunately, due to the undertow most beaches are not swimmable. Walking each morning along the beach we could understand why as the surf, even on a sunny day, was very rough.

There are 8 pools on this property. We never found all of them. This is the main pool right on the beach. Note the little button on the tables. It’s there to ring for service, but you never really have to use it as the staff is so attentive.

Poolside Tacos

Full meals are served poolside. Ordering the fish tacos is a must, as they are so delicious.

The infinity pool seemingly floats right into the ocean. That’s one happy face there!

After a relaxing day by the pool, it was time for dinner. There are three full restaurants on at the Rosewood. This is Arobl (tree), which features food with Asian influences. It sits in the most gorgeous setting up off the beach area. Check out the moon in the background!

Again, the food pictures are not great as I’m sensitive to disrupting others just to get a picture. But every bite of everything was wonderful!

We started with a sushi roll that literally looked like a beautiful butterfly. It was almost too pretty to eat. (but we did!) They have such a variety of dishes, including curries, wok dishes and anything you can imagine on the raw bar. But we were hungry for steak so we had the Wagu Tenderloin from the charcoal oven, over roasted carrot puree with grilled veggies. It was amazing. As a side we had the lobster fried rice. Again, incredible!

A great night at Arbol overall.

After dinner, there is a very cool speakeasy called La Botica. It features cocktails and live entertainment. We went one night but took no pictures. It is a must do while staying at Las Ventanas.

If you’re lucky, you end this night with this beautiful view. The moon shining on the ocean with a cruise ship passing by in the distance, highlighting the signature Las Ventanas tree. Almost a celestial feeling and a beautiful way to end the night.

Good morning! Another gorgeous sunrise. Would you ever get tired of this? I don’t think so!

Another day another pool to check out. This pool is, again off of the ocean nestled in the beautiful grounds. It’s call the Oasis Pool as it has a really cool feature, a lazy river!

I can imagine at high season this pool would be very popular, with both kids and adults. On this day, during low season, it was practically empty. See the ocean off in the distance.

Next to the pool is a charming taco stand. You can sit at the bar, or in a cabana to enjoy a variety of small street tacos and ceviche. They are some of the most delicious tacos we’ve ever had!

After tacos, it was time for the lazy river. Forget the inhibitions and just get in and float.

Just a couple of crazy kids in a cave in a lazy river.

Last night on the rooftop terrace. Pinch me that this was the best birthday surprise ever.

The moon was almost full shining brightly on the ocean.

The night ended with a small fireworks show. I’d like to say it was a surprise for me, but this time it was someone else’s birthday surprise that we all got to enjoy.

One last sunrise walk on the beach in paradise. This really is a very special place.
