Surprise! Birthday Trip to Cabo San Lucas

Have you ever thought how cool it would be to surprise someone with a trip? But, how do you get them on an airplane (especially someone who travels a lot) without them knowing? Well it can happen, and we can share how, as I just had the best trip surprise ever.

So how did he pull it off? First, to surprise someone with air, don’t use their frequent flier number. Otherwise it will show up in their app. (and on their calendar). Do the same with hotels and any other bookings that you share travel reward programs with. Once you begin, the travel, those numbers can be added along the way, so you get your points.

It’s no secret, we love Mexico. We’ve traveled all through Mexico but something about the beach calls me. So when it was time to surprise me he booked one of my favorite places: Cabo San Lucas.

While our plane was full, there were very few planes coming in. It was the quietest we’d ever seen the airport. Usually these bars outside the airport are packed with vacation goers ready to start their party.

We were greeted at the hotel with a very warm, masked welcome, complete with a margarita. The last time we were at this hotel was 7 years ago. Right after we left last time it was hit by a hurricane and closed for 11 months. It was beautifully redone.

The first order of business, was to hit the beach. There was almost no one there! But it was so beautiful.

We had a delicious dinner overlooking the beautiful Sea of Cortez. Here’s one more tip to share when planning a surprise trip, tell everyone about the birthday! It leads to a lot of free birthday desserts and celebrations! I felt such gratitude and appreciation, as we ended our first day in Cabo and looked forward to adventure ahead.
